Abstract:

This dialogue session is designed to begin an organization-wide conversation about how ABAI can facilitate positive change and help members work together to create an environment that supports professional and respectful behavior among ourselves and throughout the behavior analytic community. Concerns about diversity and harassment currently being discussed are deep and real, and the expression of those concerns has been thoughtful, measured, and sincere. They require serious attention. Encouraging participation from all segments of our diverse membership, this session will provide a forum for ABAI members to share their views regarding how our organization and the wider behavior analysis community can promote a culture of respect supporting the diverse interests, backgrounds, and abilities of its membership. This session consists of a panel including representation from different segments of our community, members with diversity of nationality, cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, gender and ethnicity. Members of the ABAI Council will be at the session and want to hear from you, our members. The overall goal of the meeting is to provide guidance for ABAI leadership as they develop a plan for further addressing these important topics in effective ways going forward.
