Abstract: Organisational culture is an essential component of any organisation. A successful business requires a combination of good business practice and a healthy organisational culture. ‘Culture represents the shared values, assumptions and beliefs that shape the behaviour of the people involved in an organisation. It is often described as the way people act when nobody is looking.’ (AICD). To develop and maintain a healthy organisational culture requires objective and thorough assessment, planning, and monitoring processes are required. This includes the identification of cultural influences, organisational values, and observable behaviours. Once the culture has been identified training, monitoring, and feedback processes must be implemented to ensure the maintenance and revision of the established culture. Processes relating to organisational culture should be embedded into leadership, management, training, recruitment, supervision, performance management, service delivery processes, and human resources. This talk will provide an overview of our journey to take an evidence-based behavioural approach to developing our organisational culture from assessment to process and plan development to implementation. |
