Social and Developmental Outcomes for Toddlers Involved in the Project DATA Model Trial
Domain: Service Delivery
BONNIE J. MCBRIDE (University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center)
Abstract: This paper will present the social and developmental outcomes for children who participated in the Project DATA Model clinical trial. Since Autism is a primarily social and communicative disorder, it is essential to demonstrate changes in these domains as a result of effective intervention. This clinical trial used state of the art data collection and analysis strategies. Child assessments were conducted quarterly. This frequent data collection enables us to create growth curves for all 80 toddlers who participated in the project. Individual data, as well as group data will be presented. Data on a number of assessments including the ADOS (autism severity), Vineland, Mullen will be presented. We will also present the effect size of the intervention and compare the effect size of Project DATA to the effect size of other early behavioral intervention models. Implications for practice will be discussed.
