Abstract: Do you own an Amazon Echo, or wear a fitness tracker to count your steps, or own a car with satellite radio and a navigation system? Within the past five years, there has been a data surge across the globe due to internet connected devices. Companies such as Google, Amazon, and Stitch Fix (yes, the clothing provider), to name a few, have employed Data Scientists to help use their data more efficiently and predict what customers will purchase. This talk will cover various data science methodologies used with regards to downloaded Washington D.C. Crime data, provided by Kaggle.com. Given the unique data set, the Data Scientist was able to provide information with visualizations regarding crime types, patterns of life, and locations of interest of crime over the nine-years of data provided. This talk will describe the realm of the possible within the data set, and discuss corollaries to some government projects.
