Abstract:

Schools should be designed to provide a valuable accessible space for the academic and social participation for every student. Schools also provide a dynamic and complex system for the practice of behavior analysis to develop and coordinate meaningful supportive change. This panel will focus on some core elements to the implementation of behavior analytic practice in schools that will bring value, structure, and systematic measures of progress. The first element is the successful collaboration with professionals from other disciplines to develop equitable programs and support for students of concern. The second element is the importance of careful monitoring systems for students to support the tracking or teaching strategies and progression of learning. The panel will also address institutionalizing of Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) principles at the district, school, and classroom levels to improve behavioral and academic outcomes. These practices will prove to be scalable, cost-effective, aligned with teaching pedagogy, and most importantly supportive for students.
