Performance scorecards are an important performance management tool for any organization. They help both staff and managers track and gain a clear understanding of how employees are performing on tasks that are pertinent to their role, as well as the areas in which they may need additional support. Implementation of performance scorecards will yield benefit for both staff and managers. They allow management teams to identify and target specific areas that need support in order to boost the company’s performance, and staff will be encouraged to assist the company in doing so as a result of their performance being incentivized. Although there is research on best practices for creating and implementing performance scorecards (Abernathy, 2000; Daniels & Daniels, 2004; Rummler & Brache, 1995), these implementation strategies need to be modified and individualized for every company’s culture and specific needs. This presentation discusses applied tips for implementing performance scorecards effectively at your organization based on lessons learned through applied experience.
