CBS Concentration 2022

Coursework for the CBS Concentration

The Culturo-Behavior Science concentration includes three course areas, rigorous competencies, required instructor-led hours, experiential learning requirements and hours, as well as specific course details to incorporate into a CBS concentration. These details provide foundational information for coordinators to develop a CBS concentration at their institution. A program may adopt the CBS requirements in entirety or submit alternative contents, such as readings or competencies, for consideration during the application process. The program must demonstrate the alternative contents meet the content area and item requirements.

300 total hours

(10 hours per week, across two semesters)

  • The three content areas: 
    • basic principles, 
    • behavioral systems analysis, and 
    • applying cultural analysis on multiple levels of organized complexity
  • Objectives for each of the content areas
  • Content area items
    • Competencies related to each item
    • Core/foundational readings related to each item
    • Suggested/ancillary readings related to each item
  • Additional recommended textbook and articles
