Venue Protocol

Moscone Convention Center

Moscone's Security Department monitors the building and its perimeter 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In case of emergency, please pick up a white house phone and dial 511.

Emergencies

  1. Listen for instructions via the public address system.
  2. For fire, the whoop tone alarm and strobe lights will activate. If there is smoke, sprinklers will activate. Emergency fire doors will also close. For a power outage, emergency generators will activate.
  3. Please take the stairs if you are able. Elevators are for people in wheelchairs only. Do not use escalators.
  4. Once outside, relocate to an assembly area as directed by Moscone Center staff.
  5. Be aware of emergency vehicles converging on the facility.

 

Evacuation Relocation Procedures

The designated evacuation relocation area for Moscone West is in the children’s carousel area on the SE corner of 4th and Howard Streets.

  1. Evacuate the building immediately upon notification.
  2. Walk directly to the designated relocation area.
  3. Use crosswalks and cross only on green lights.
  4. Wait quietly for further instructions.

Fire

  1. Remain calm.
  2. Report fire immediately. Do not assume a fire has been reported.
  3. Call the security control room from a house phone by dialing 511.
  4. Move safely away from fire and smoke.
  5. Stay low to the ground.
  6. Do not inhale smoke or fumes.
  7. Listen for instructions via the public address system.
  8. Proceed to the nearest exit and leave the facility.
  9. Report to the designated relocation area.

 

Earthquakes

The Moscone Center is designed and constructed to withstand large earthquakes. Please do not leave the facility in the event of an earthquake unless it is absolutely necessary or you have been instructed to do so.

  1. Remain calm.
  2. Seek protection from falling objects. Temporary refuge may be found in door frames and under sturdy furniture.
  3. Do not stand near windows or glass.
  4. Listen for instructions via the public address system.
