Kelly M. Schieltz, PhD, BCBA-D. Dr. Schieltz is an Assistant Professor, clinical psychologist, and Board Certified Behavior Analyst in Pediatric Psychology at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. She directs a behavioral outpatient clinic within which she specializes in the assessment and treatment of severe challenging behavior displayed by children with and without developmental disabilities. Her programmatic research focuses on two areas spanning the applied-translational continuum in behavior analysis. Her applied research focuses on coaching and training caregivers in their homes in-vivo and via telehealth to conduct behavioral treatments with their young children with developmental disabilities who engage in challenging behavior. Her translational research focuses on increasing our understanding of the behavioral mechanisms related to treatment relapse in applied populations with a special emphasis toward variables that impact persistence of adaptive behaviors under treatment disruption. Both areas of research have received funding from the NIH. She was an Associate Editor for the journals Behavior Analysis in Practice and Behavior Analysis: Research and Practice. She currently serves as an editorial board member for several behavior analytic journals. Dr. Schieltz was the 2023 recipient of the B.F. Skinner New Researcher Award in Applied Research presented annually by the Behavior Analysis Division (Division 25) of the American Psychological Association.
