Dr. Julie Slowiak earned her B.A. in Psychology and Organizational Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (2003), and she received her M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (2006) and Ph.D. in Behavior Analysis (2008) from Western Michigan University. Dr. Slowiak is a tenured, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
 
Dr. Slowiak’s teaching includes undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, research methods, organizational behavior management, organizational psychology, personnel psychology, applied behavior analysis, organizational systems and development, personnel training and development, and worker wellbeing. Her teaching and advising has been recognized at the University of Minnesota Duluth with the receipt of the 2012 Outstanding Faculty Award (UMD Student Awards) and the 2012-2013 College of Education and Human Service Professions Outstanding Advisor Award, along with a nomination for the 2015-16 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
 
Dr. Slowiak’s current research interests relate generally to the areas of organizational health psychology and organizational performance management and improvement. More specifically, she is interested in topics related to workplace health and wellbeing interventions, healthy behavior promotion and behavior change, behavior-based coaching, feedback seeking, electronic performance monitoring, feedback, and goal setting.
 
Dr. Slowiak presents regularly at local, regional, and national conferences, including those affiliated with the Minnesota Northland Association for Behavior Analysis, OBM Network, and the Association for Behavior Analysis International. Dr. Slowiak’s empirical work has been published in the American Journal of Health Promotion, Journal of Organizational Behavior Management, Quality Management in Health Care, and The Psychological Record. Dr. Slowiak currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management and remains an active member of the OBM professional community.
 
Dr. Slowiak is the founder of InJewel LLC and a personal and professional coach and consultant. She is an expert in the science of human behavior with an emphasis on performance management, behavioral systems analysis, employee motivation, and general behavior change. Current projects include developing and facilitating performance management workshops to mangers in a large health care organization, providing ongoing, voluntary organizational consultation to a local animal shelter, and providing wellbeing and healthy lifestyle behavior change coaching to individuals.
