Volunteer for DEI Board
ABAI established the DEI Board with instruction to foster and develop an inclusive, equitable, and just environment for all individuals and groups, within the science and practice of behavior analysis and beyond.
Members of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion board of ABAI are expected to attend monthly meetings. The DEI board currently has three awards that they are responsible for administering. These awards are designed to encourage, promote, and reward behavior-analytic scholarship on topics and issues in DEI, both in the field of behavior analysis and more broadly. Students (graduate or undergraduate) and post-graduate professionals who have completed empirical or conceptual papers relevant to DEI and that are informed, at least in part, by a behavior analytic perspective. Specifically, the awards are: Innovative Student Research Grant in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Award for Distinguished Contributions to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Social Justice, SABA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fund. In addition, the board is allotted three invited program slots at each year’s annual convention, to highlight important DEI programs and relevant issues. There have also been several subcommittees that have been formed from and/or by the DEI Board. These include the Education committee, Web committee, and Policy committee. DEI board members are expected to serve on at least one of these subcommittees.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and/or interest in DEI issues, which might include social justice, clinical work, research, and/or experience with grant reviews.
