The Coalition of Behavioral Science Organizations
ABAI has led an effort to bring a coalition of behavioral science organizations to improve the well-being of communities and society.
The Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) has joined five other behavioral science organizations to advance society’s use of behavioral science knowledge and methods. In addition to ABAI, the coalition includes the Association for Contextual Behavior Science, the Association for Positive Behavior Support, the Evolution Institute, the National Prevention Science Coalition, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine. For nearly a year, our associations have been working together to develop a joint position statement that outlines our guiding principles. All of the problems that we face as societies are, at base, problems of human behavior. We are confident that the knowledge behavioral scientists have accumulated about human behavior, coupled with the scientific methods we have evolved, can enable our societies to achieve unprecedented advances in human well-being. The coalition’s joint statement is directly relevant to ABAI’s mission to “contribute to the well-being of society by developing, enhancing, and supporting the growth and vitality of the science of behavior...” in all its scope and applications. (See this link for the position statement.) We share our joint statement and our commitment to collaborate in areas of significance to communities around the world. Our first effort will be focused on “Nurturing family well-being.” If your research and publications focus on this topic, we invite you to share your publications by clicking this link.
