Mission/Objectives
The mission of CalABA is the advancement of the profession and practices of behavior analysis.
In order to fulfill this mission, CalABA commits to the following activities:
- Support a certification process for behavior analysts and associate behavior analysts;
- Advocate for behavior analysis services and the profession
- Promote quality assurance in behavior analysis
- Provide resources and information related to behavior analysis
- Advance behavior analysis via professional development activities
Description of Membership
Our members include:
Professionals from a variety of disciplines including psychology, education, social work, speech and language pathology, biology, ethology, and related medical fields interested in using behavior analysis to improve lives and better our understanding of behavior.
Nonprofessionals interested in how behavior analysis can help improve the quality of life and develop the potential of all persons.

Categories of Membership:
- Certified: Any person meeting the criteria for Professional member who is also certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc.
- Professional: Any person holding a bachelor's degree or above in any field and who works full or part-time in behavior analysis.
- Associate: Any person holding a bachelor's degree or above in any field and who works full or part-time in a field other than behavior analysis.
- Student: Any person classified as a student in a program of study leading to a degree in behavior analysis or a related discipline. Application for membership in this category must be accompanied by certification of the student status of the applicant by a member of the faculty of the program in which the student is enrolled.
- Affiliate: Any individual with an interest in behavior analysis who does not qualify for Certified, Professional, Associate, or Student membership.

CalABA holds an annual conference.
Newsletters/Publications
The CalABA Newsletter is published twice a year.
Specifically of Interest to Behavior Analysts
CalABA sponsors the top regional conference on behavior analysis in the U.S. and regularly features well-known researchers and clinicians from all over the country. CalABA is the primary clearinghouse for research and training in behavior analysis in the Western region of the United States.
