Mission/Objectives
The purpose of the Teaching Behavior Analysis (TBA) SIG is simple: to improve the teaching and learning of the principles and applications of behavior analysis in any setting where those activities occur. These settings include formal classrooms; agencies and organizations that design behavioral interventions for children, adults, and animals; business concerns that provide performance management training for their personnel or consultees; and homes where the main concerns are caring and effective child-raising, supportive family relationships, and enjoyable, well-mannered pets.
Description of Membership
We have a diverse group of individuals who represent all facets of behavior analysis. In addition, we have some parents of children with autism and other disabilities on our rolls. Our members range from those just beginning to learn about behavior analysis to seasoned and well-known pioneers in the field.
Annual or Recurring Events
At this time, we meet annually for our business meeting at ABAI's convention, and put together symposia of interest to those teaching behavior analysis.
Publications/Newsletters
While no formal newsletter exists, members share information, articles of interest, and websites through our TBA-L Listserv.
Specifically of Interest to Behavior Analysts
All behavior analysts teach others to change behavior—whether it's staff trainers, parent educators, university professors, or others. We maintain a diverse, international group; by nature we discuss things that are of universal interest to behavior analysts—intervention techniques, basic behavioral principles, and teaching others.
