Mission Statement

The Neuroscience SIG brings together researchers, academics, clinicians and students interested in the intersection of behavior analysis and neuroscience as it relates to basic research, clinical interventions or general neurological dysfunction. The Neuroscience SIG has three primary missions: 1) To introduce behavior analytic research to the neurosciences and introduce neuroscience research to behavior analysis; 2) To serve as both a meeting place and training environment for students and professionals alike interested in basic and applied neuroscience research; 3) To serve as a forum for collaborative relationships, funding applications, and the sharing of best-practice; 4) advocate for and promote high standards in the application of behavior analytic treatments for individuals with neurological dysfunction.

Description of Membership

Membership is open to all ABA members, as well as academics, researchers, administrators and clinicians from other organizations, and consumers. We welcome anyone with an interest in the intersection of behavior analysis and neuroscience.

Annual or Recurring Events

The Neuroscience SIG sponsors and organizes convention events at the annual meeting of the Association for Behavior Analysis International.

Newsletters/Publication

The Neuroscience SIG is currently planning to establish a website and to publish an annual newsletter that summarizes new events, recent publications, developing lines of research and member activities.

Specifically of Interest to Behavior Analysts

Within behavior analysis, there has been a rapid growth in basic neuroscience research and clinical research devoted to understanding the interplay between behavioral treatments and neural dysfunction. Accordingly, the Neuroscience SIG provides a welcome forum for building collaborations, freely exchanging ideas related to basic and applied neuroscience issues, and resources for addressing practical issues related to conducting research.
