Mission/Objectives
The mission of British Columbia ABA includes the following objectives:
- To function in British Columbia, Canada, as the liaison to and affiliate of ABAI.
- To advance behavior analysis in the province of British Columbia. BC-ABA's interests lie in basic science focusing on principles governing human and nonhuman behavior (i.e., the experimental analysis of behavior) as well as applied science focusing on application of those principles for improvement of socially important problems (applied behavior analysis), and disseminating this information to stimulate interest in and correct misunderstandings of behavior analysis in the general public.
- To work towards the regulation of behavior analysis practitioners in British Columbia.
Description of Membership
BCBAs, BCaBAs, and other professionals and paraprofessionals within the province who are working in the field of ABA.
Annual or Recurring Events
Annual conference each spring featuring a preconference workshop by an invited expert in the field. Past speakers have included Ilene Schwartz, Raymond Romanczyk, and Peter Gerhardt.
Newsletters/Publications
An annual newsletter and ongoing website.
Specifically of Interest to Behavior Analysts
This chapter provides support for behavior analysts practicing within the province of British Columbia. BC-ABA is interested in examining ways to enhance behavior analysis within the province, and therefore BC-ABA needs the support and input of all practitioners.
