Mission/Objectives
Association Française d'ABA (AF-ABA) has been organized to promote scientific research and professional practice in the field of applied behavior analysis in autism. Most recently, there has been growth in the number of associations and schools in France professing to use applied behavior analysis in the treatment of persons with autism. In the absence of an affiliated chapter, persons and organizations may encourage the practice of ABA without adherence to BACB guidelines. This development created momentum among interested parties to establish AF-ABA. Our aims in this endeavor are:
- To encourage all organizations in France professing to use ABA in the treatment of persons with autism to follow BACB ethical and professional guidelines.
- To promote ethical and professional practice among ABA practitioners by providing practical workshops in the application of ABA practice for persons with autism, and to eventually be able to offer continuing education credits for the same.
- To help families living with a person with autism to apply appropriate ABA practice at home by providing practical workshops describing ABA technology.
- To encourage research in appropriate practice in ABA for persons with autism.
- To subsequently develop a university course sequence recognized by the BACB so that interested practitioners can receive BACB certification coursework in the French language.
- To encourage the dissemination of knowledge of applied behavior analysis in autism to all political, governmental, and policy-making bodies within France.
