Any graduate degree-granting program providing training in behavior analysis is eligible for membership. Each behavior analytic program within an academic department may be a member. The representative of the member program is normally the director of the program. If the director is unable to be present at a meeting of CoD, he or she may appoint a designee to represent the member program.
Brief History
In May of 1998, the ABA International Council approved a proposal submitted by the Education Board to form a Council of Directors of Graduate Programs in Behavior Analysis (CoD), under ABA International's auspices.
At the ABA International convention of 1999, an organizational meeting of CoD was held, at which 8 graduate programs were represented. This group agreed that the first regular meeting of CoD would be held in the fall of 1999, at the University of Nevada, Reno. Linda Hayes was approved as the Interim Director.
Directors (or their representatives) of all graduate programs in behavior analysis listed in ABA International's Directory of Graduate Programs in Behavior Analysis were invited to a two-day meeting in Reno, in November, 1999. Representatives of nine programs were in attendance. At the meeting, a set of bylaws was drafted, a Director (Linda Hayes) and Graduate Student Representative/Assistant (Kate Kellum) were appointed, and the time of the annual meeting and an annual membership fee was established.
Since this time, the CoD has meet annually to address its objectives.
