Virginia ABA
By Dr. Sherry Serdikoff
The Virginia Association for Behavior Analysis (VABA) is an organization for people interested in behavior analysis and is primarily an interest group. VABA works to promote behavior analysis by:
- Arranging an annual conference for the discussion of research and conceptual issues in behavior analysis.
- Maintaining a Web site containing information about the organization and about behavior analysis in Virginia and elsewhere.
- Functioning as the Virginia contact for and representative of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI).
- Promoting cooperation between behavior analytic organizations in other countries, regions, states, and localities.
On March 1, 2008 we held our 4th annual conference. The invited addresses featured behavior analysts specializing in a wide range of areas: SungWoo Kahng (Kennedy Krieger Institute), W. Joseph Wyatt (Marshall University), Matthew W. Johnson,(Johns Hopkins University), Maureen A. Conroy (Virginia Commonwealth University), Donald A. Hantula (Temple University), and Jennifer L. Crockett (Kennedy Krieger Institute). Additionally, there was a poster session that featured primarily student research. We intend to hold our 5th annual conference in March of 2009.
