California ABA
By Dr. Christina Whalen
The California Association for Behavior Analysis (CalABA) now includes 942 members, an increase of 183 members from last year (24%). Our annual conference continues to grow in popularity, with more than 900 in attendance at our 2008 conference in February in Orange County, California (an increase of about 18% from last year).
Many CalABA members attended and presented at the ABAI conference in Chicago this year and CalABA had a poster at the ABAI Expo to inform people about CalABA and the upcoming conference in 2009.
The CalABA Conference Committee for 2009 is now busy preparing for next year’s conference which will be held at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport in Burlingame, CA. The conference will be March 12–14, 2009. The Conference Committee is currently planning the list of invited speakers, continuing education workshops, and other exciting events for the 2009 conference. Elections for new board members are also currently underway with ballots available in the Spring CalABA newsletter, sent out in May, 2008.
With its increasing success as an ABAI chapter, CalABA continues to further educate and improve behavior analysis practices in California and has a strong influence in surrounding states and across the U.S.
Benefits of CalABA membership include:
