Charter ABA

By Dr. Charles Merbitz

CABA, the Charter Association for Behavior Analysis, is the oldest local ABA association still in existence. CABA was formed in the 1960’s by faculty and students from the University of Chicago. Now, five decades after its creation, CABA is undergoing a renaissance and expansion. CABA has a new home, the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, which now has seven faculty members who are also members of ABAI and over 100 graduate students in its Department of Applied Behavior Analysis. The City of Chicago also has behavioral faculty and students at the University of Chicago, DePaul University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, St. Xavier’s and the Illinois Institute of Technology. CABA is also developing a new, expanded scope; the new CABA will move beyond the city of Chicago and support behavior analysts in the State of Illinois as well as the surrounding region. CABA plans to have a conference each spring as well as its annual meeting at ABAI and its other local meetings. CABA volunteers are working on the development of a Web site and a newsletter. The Web site is now in place and can be accessed through this link: CABA Web site.  Contact Ann Sturtz or Kerin Weingarten at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology for more information about CABA’s activities: aba@thechicagoschool.edu.
