Berkshire Association for Behavior Analysis and Therapy
By Dr. Alan Harchik
The Berkshire Association for Behavior Analysis and Therapy held another successful conference in October 2007 again at the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus. This was the 28th consecutive year of the conference, and it continues to grow year after year with more than 500 attendees in 2007. The program was diverse and included topics such as treatment for challenging problematic behaviors, teaching verbal behavior and language, using behavior analysis and therapy in clinic settings, data collection, assessment, staff training, and applications in sports and athletics. Speakers included Richard Foxx, Gina Green, Brian Iwata, Raymond Miltenberger, Dorothea Lerman, Richard Fleming, Mark Sundberg, James Carr, David Palmer, and Sung Woo Kahng. Brian Iwata received the Annual Murray Sidman Award for Enduring Contribution to Applied Behavior Analysis. Continuing education units (CEUs) were available for certified behavior analysts and associate behavior analysts. Planning is underway for the 2008 conference, to be held October 13–14 at the same location at the University of Massachusetts. The call for papers is out and available at the chapter’s Web site: www.babat.org.
