Speech Pathology SIG

The Speech Pathology SIG’s mission is to promote dissemination of behaviorally-oriented speech and language research/application of evidence-based practices to speech and language professionals (SLP). During the past year, we have made important contributions toward this mission.
Our members report the following accomplishments for 2005-06 in venues accessed by speech and language professionals:
- Manuscripts published or in press
- Empirical papers: 11
- Discussion papers: 7
- Book chapter: 1
- Conference Presentations such as paper, poster, seminar, short course, or workshop
- 2005 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) San Diego convention: 4
- 2006 ASHA Miami Beach convention, submitted: 7
- 2005 ABA Chicago convention: 15
- 2006 ABA Atlanta convention, submitted: 12
- Other state, regional or international conferences attended by speech & language professionals: 32
- Other
- SIG member started the first ABA school in Australia with BCBA hired as advisor to school
- Two SIG members separately published commercially-available speech/language treatment materials
Goals for 2006-07 will be related to increasing activities in the areas listed above as well as increasing student membership and continuing to promote professional collaboration between speech pathologists and behavior analysts.
