Standard Celeration Society
By Michael Fabrizio
2005 was a great and busy year for the Standard Celeration Society (SCS)!
In November 2005, the SCS held the 18th annual International Precision Teaching Conference (IPTC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Under the skillful management of the local site coordinator Bill Helsel and his team of dedicated volunteers, the 18th IPTC offered attendees numerous workshops, papers, and discussion sessions that highlighted both the breadth and the power of applications for precision teaching. Supported by the Chicago School of Professional Psychology (CSOPP), the 19th annual IPTC will occur in November 2006 in Naperville, Illinois. The site for the 2007 IPTC has been selected as Kansas City, Kansas and will correspond with the opening of the Ogden R. Lindsley Memorial Archives in Kansas City.
Beyond the IPTC, the Standard Celeration ListServ continues as an active on-line community where precision teachers share and help one another, and the SCS Web site (www.celeration.org) has been updated continually.
Several SCS senior members are finishing up their work as an ad hoc committee that will make recommendations regarding the electronic publication of the Journal of Precision Teaching and Celeration (JPTC). We all eagerly await the publication of the next issue of JPTC, which is now indexed in the PsychInfo database.
The SCS is also well on its way to finding a permanent physical home. Through a joint agreement between the SCS and Behavior Research Company, Behavior Research Company will become the permanent physical home for the Society’s business and will provide the SCS with needed administrative support, including maintenance of the SCS bank accounts, processing SCS memberships, and handling order fulfillment related to the IPTC.
Happy charting!
