Rehabilitation & Independent Living

By Dr. Mike Mozzoni, BCBA

The Rehabilitation & Independent Living SIG has not been active this past year but we plan to reinvigorate the special interest group at the ABA annual convention in Atlanta. Behavior Analysts working in the area of rehabilitation and independent living are in a unique position to work alongside physical and occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, nurses, and physicians in a dynamic environment. Patient progress and skill (re)acquisition are the products of rehabilitation. We can provide a unique service, cutting accross disciplines to aide therapists and physicians in training and treatment through the use of evidenced-based decision making. RCT (random control trials) may be the language of medical/rehabilitation research but SSD (single subject design) is where the rubber meets the road.

Be a part of getting people back to life, back to their communities, back to their homes, and back to work. The Rehabilitation & Independent Living SIG offers professionals a forum to meet other professionals, share information, problem solve, and coordinate multisite research projects. Make friends you can call on! join the Rehabilitation & Independent Living SIG by contacting Mike Mozzoni, Ph.D., BCBA, CBIT at mmozzoni@neurorestorative.com.
