Georgia ABA
By Dr. Coby Lund
During the past several years, behavior analysis has begun moving into Georgia. When I first moved here in 2000, there were only three BCBAs in the state, and two lived at my house. Today, there are nearly 50, with many more still needed. As a state chapter with this limited-but-growing population of behavior analysts, the Georgia Association for Behavior Analysis (GABA) has some specific objectives, including:
- a professional network and resource for behavior analysts in Georgia;
- a forum for members to collaborate, disseminate recent research, share ideas, and discuss needs;
- a voice to promote the ethical and effective use of behavior analysis;
- a resource for those seeking ABA services in Georgia;
- the organization of an annual regional ABA conference; and
- a provider of continuing education for professionals in Georgia.
A primary short-term objective during this past year has been to increase membership, which we have been able to accomplish. Additionally, the following new group of officers was elected, and the position of Secretary was added.
- President: Coby Lund
- Vice President: Michele Wixson
- Treasurer: Kim Small
- Secretary: Sandra Black
Now that we have more members to participate, we hope to be more active in 2006, to meet regularly and to plan for a future GABA convention.
If you would like to join GABA, membership applications can be downloaded from our Web site at www.georgia-aba.com. Additionally, for those interested, there is a list of ABA providers on the Web site.
