Connecticut ABA

By Erica Q. Smith

The mission of the Connecticut Association for Behavior Analysis (CTABA) is to develop and advance the field of behavior analysis within the state of Connecticut through research, education, and dissemination of information. In 2005, the Chapter focused on increasing active membership and development.

To meet these goals, CTABA held its first annual conference in April 2005. Speakers included John Molteni, Ph.D.; Stein K. Lund; Richard B. Graff, M.S., BCBA; and Stuart Vyse, Ph.D. Over 40 people attended the conference and feedback indicates that it was a success. The second annual conference, held on April 29, 2006, built on the success of the first conference. Gerald Shook, Ph.D., BCBA began the day with an overview and update on the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. He was followed by Suzanne Letso, M.A., BCBA; Tom Zane, Ph.D., BCBA; Erik Mayville, Ph.D., BCBA; Stein Lund; Deirdre Fitzgerald, Ph.D., BCBA; Stuart Vyse, Ph.D.; and Rick Graff, Ph.D., BCBA.

This year CTABA also increased awareness by developing a Web site with the help of Brian Armstrong. The Web site contains information on membership, upcoming events, and links to related sites. Our newsletter, created by Tania Vidosevic, can also be found on the Web site.

CTABA also undertook some fundraising efforts, chaired by Elizabeth Nulty, to raise funds to promote the growth of the organization. Information on our fundraising efforts can also be found on our Web site.

In 2006, CTABA will continue to focus on increasing active membership. We hope to continue to expand the Annual Conference to provide a regional venue for continuing education. To learn more about CTABA, please visit our Web site at www.ctaba.org.
