Clinical Behavior Analysis

By Tom Waltz

The Clinical Special Interest Group of ABAI is dedicated to facilitating collaboration of researchers and clinicians in further development and application of applied behavior analysis in clinical populations. This group seeks to promote Clinical Behavior Analysis (CBA) in ABAI and is interested in maintaining the longstanding relationship between basic research and clinical application.

At the 2009 convention, the Clinical SIG discussed how to better utilize the ABAI annual convention to meet the training and continuing education needs of clinical behavior analysts. SIG members are working to increase the opportunities for students and professionals to learn about how BA is used in a wide variety of clinical settings and increase interest in this area. The annual convention has the possibility for being a major recruitment tool for clinicians who used to consider ABAI their professional home.

The Clinical SIG members are also collaborating with the Dissemination of Behavior Analysis SIG, lending their expertise to the accurate promotion of specific CBA treatments and practices on the World Wide Web.
