Annual Convention Program Committee Report
By Ramona Houmanfar
We experienced another successful convention at ABAI 2009. As always, our accomplishment was a product of the contribution and support provided by the Program Committee, ABAI administration staff, and ABAI council. The following is an overview of some changes in the ABAI Program Committee structure, and a data based outline of the ABAI 2009 program.
Program Growth
As shown in Table 1 and Figure 1, the total number of submissions was approximately 1,637, which is comparable to 2008. Posters continued to account for the majority of submissions (52%), followed by individual papers (20%), and panels & symposia (20%), and invited presentations (2%). In addition, AUT (29%), EDC (15%), EAB (14%), and DDA (12%) continued to be the largest areas and together accounted for 70% of all submissions. BPH, CBM, CSE, DDA, DEV, EAB, OBM, OTH, TBA, and VRB experienced a decrease in the number of submissions from 2008.

Area Coordinators
The updated list of co-coordinators for program areas will be included in the Call for Papers for ABAI 2010. So, we are grateful to these colleagues for their contribution to the vitality of the ABA Program.
The following Senior Co-Coordinators’ terms ended at the conclusion of the 2009 convention:
- Autism: William Ahearn (2006-2009)

New Development
The Applied Animal Behavior (AAB) SIG submitted a well documented proposal for the development of a new program area for AAB. The ABAI Council reviewed and approved the inclusion of the AAB as a new program area. This new category will be included in the Call for Paper for ABAI 2010. We congratulate the AAB SIG for this great accomplishment.
Comments by Senior Co-Chair
I would like to thank my co-chair, Bill Palya, for his valuable collaboration, and all of the Program Coordinators and other members of the Program Committee for their outstanding efforts this year. In addition, on behalf of the ABAI program committee, I would like to thank Maria Malott and her exemplary staff members for their support and guidance.
