On March 26-27, 2009, we again had our annual two-day conference at the Hershey Lodge. On the first day of the conference, we had four half-day workshops: Suzanne Letso, M.A., BCBA, CEO of the Connecticut Center for Child Development conducted a workshop on legal and ethical issues; James Mulick, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at the Ohio State University conducted a workshop on recognizing fads in autism services; Ray Romanczyk, Ph.D., BCBA, Director of the Institute for Child Development and Emily Huber Callahan, M.S. of the Institute for Child Development conducted a workshop on policy and practice with individuals with autism spectrum disorders; and Dennis Russo, Ph.D., Chief Clinical Officer of the May Institute conducted a workshop on the use of ABA in the treatment of brain injury. These workshops were attended by 79 individuals. A social hour and poster presentation were held after the conclusion of the workshops. On the second day of our conference, our workshop speakers were joined by Jim Johnston, Ph.D., BCBA for a speakers' series. The speakers' series was attended by 95 individuals. Rich Miller, the Business Manager for PennABA, was presented with a highly deserved award from the organization for his tireless efforts in making our conferences a success.

PennABA will continue to offer continuing education for the growing number of behavior analysts within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as for individuals with an interest in the field of behavior analysis. Our 2010 conference is currently in the planning stages and will again be held at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA.

PennABA maintains a comprehensive website that contains information about membership, our annual conference, local job opportunities for behavior analysts, the organization's officers, and links to our electronic newsletter.
